Windsor International Airport (IATA: YQG, ICAO: CYQG), originally opened as Walker Airport in 1928 by Hiram Walker, the maker of the famous Canadian Club Whiskey. Recognized as an important regional airport, Windsor International Airport was incorporated into the national portfolio of airports in 1967. Under the federal government's National Airports Policy, the ownership of YQG was transferred to the City of Windsor in 1998 and operation of the airport awarded to a private operator. Today, YQG is managed under a long term agreement by Your Quick Gateway (Windsor) Inc.
